An output device is a computer hardware that gives us the output. It receives data from a computer and then translates that data into another form, like audio, visual, textual, or hard copy such as a printing the document on a page.
Monitor It is used to display the output on the screen as soft copy. These can be monochrome or coloured.
Types of Monitors
CRT > Cathode Ray Tube
LCD >Liquid Crystal Display
TFT > Thin Film Transistors
LED > Light Emitting Diode
SPEAKER It is used to listen the sounds of various programs, applications, songs, movies, games etc.
PLOTTER It is used to plot (print) very high-quality design and graphics to be used for scientific and research application.
PROJECTOR A projector or image projector is an optical device that projects an image (or moving images) onto a surface, commonly known as a projection screen.
PRINTER It is used to print the output on the paper as on hard copy.
Types of Printers:
- 1. Impact Printers: Character and Line Printers
- 2. Non-Impact Printers: Page Printers
IMPACT PRINTERS They make an impact between the paper and printer to produce the output which puts pressure on the paper and thus the quality is low. It makes the physical contact or direct contact with the paper for printing.
NON-IMPACT PRINTER These don’t make any physical contact between the paper and the printer to produce the output. It doesn’t put any pressure on the paper and the quality is good.
CHARACTER PRINTER These printers print one character at a time and are the slowest printer example DMP (Dot Matrix Printers), Daisy printer.
LINE PRINTERS These printers print one line at a time. Example Drum Printer and Chain printer
PAGE PRINTER These printers print one page at a time and are the fastest printers for example Inkjet, Laser and Thermal printer.
INKJET PRINTER These printers spray the ink on the paper to produce the output.
LASER PRINTER They use the laser technique that laser beam to produce the output.
THERMAL PRINTER They use the thermal or heat technology to produce the output.
